Russia-based MTS says its Uzbek subsidiary, Uzdunrobita, accused of violating anti-monopoly rules, consumer protection laws and advertising regulations, is facing termination... In an exclusive interview with Navbahor Imamova of Voice of America's Uzbek Service, Vice president Michael Hacker says that the charges are unwarranted and that the company has become victim of a systematic expropriation campaign engineered by the authorities in Uzbekistan. Uzdunrobita's license has been suspended and four employees remain in prison. Around 10 million of Uzbekistan's 25 million mobile phone users are MTS customers.
